This is a strange comparison. Why would you want to compare the Inspire 1 with the Inspire 3? And miss out the 2? Well it's a valid question but I'm going to look at all three. An Inspire 1 is now well under £1,000 (and we still sell them). An Inspire 2 I would expect to be dropping to around £1,00 to £1,500 within the not too distant future and how much is an Inspire 3 I hear you ask. The last time I saw it was around 16,000 US Dollars or around £13,500 GB Pounds (and around 14,000 euros plus) How can you compare something with such a different price tag? Well they both fly, they both take great photographs and video. And in optimal daylight conditions I bet there is an overlap of probably 70% of the footage that the average person would not know any difference.

But if that 30% of the time that you fly is going to earn you 90% of of your income then absolutely it is worth the upgrade. If you need to fly in tight spaces then again the Inspire 3 is for you as it has a zillion anti avoidance sensors. The cameras are an enormous upgrade too.

IN SHORT :

I just want to fly and have fun with a 'big bird' and take 'awesome' footage for my own use or very light commercial use - The DJI Inspire 1 is for you!
I need to use it commercially for clients requiring much better quality images suitabke for broadcast - The Inspire 2 is for you!
I need to shoot the new 'James Bond' with it. The production company insists that I use the new Inspire 3 - Go for it!

Just Comparing to the Inspire 1, the Inspire 2 had several significant improvements. These include:

  1. Improved camera: The Inspire 2 is compatible with several different camera options, including the Zenmuse X5S and X7, which have larger sensors and better image quality than the Zenmuse X3 and X5 used with the Inspire 1.

  2. Faster speed and longer flight time: The Inspire 2 can reach speeds of up to 67mph (108km/h) and has a maximum flight time of 27 minutes, compared to the Inspire 1's top speed of 50mph (80km/h) and flight time of up to 21 minutes. These are a little like car manufacturers fuel consumptions though. Half them for real life conditions and then add a bit more in ten minutes of flying you generally get what you need in most circimstances before wanting to bring the bird back for a break.

  3. Improved obstacle avoidance: The Inspire 2 has advanced obstacle avoidance sensors on its front, bottom, and top, which can help prevent collisions with obstacles during flight. The Inspire 1 only had one underneath and it wouldn't stop you from a hard landing.

  4. Better control and stability: The Inspire 2 features an updated control system, which includes a new dual-operator mode that allows one person to pilot the drone while another controls the camera. It also has improved stability in windy conditions, thanks to its larger and more powerful motors. That was the official line but of course the Inspire 1 has this too.

Overall, the Inspire 2 is a significant upgrade over the Inspire 1 in terms of camera quality, speed, flight time, obstacle avoidance, and control. However, it also comes with a far higher price tag, making it a better fit for professional filmmakers and commercial operators who require advanced features and capabilities.

The DJI Inspire 3

First, the notable differences between the Inspire 2 and Inspire 3 are two: Full frame sensor and 8K resolution. That’s basically it. If you are willing to pay five times the amount for a bigger sensor, go for it. Besides that, there are more dissimilarities in various aspects of both drones. We made a table demonstrating the main differences between Inspire 3 and Inspire 2. As you can see, the main disparity is the price.
